Carlis "David" Smith

April 22, 1952 - February 18, 2022

Carlis “David” Smith, 69, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Annie Penn Hospital. A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Riverside Church of the Living God with Pastor Fred Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. David was born in Rockingham County on April 22, 1952, to the late Carlis Furman and Christine Collins Smith. He was a member of Riverside Church of the Living God, loved the Lord, and loved his church family. David enjoyed spending time with his family, the UNC Tar Heels, and the Carolina Panthers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Hill Smith. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Keith Smith and wife Heather of Mayodan; his daughter, Chris Carter and husband Charles of Stoneville; his sisters, Melissa Smith and Husband Jim of Reidsville, June Kirkman and husband Randy of Mayodan, and Amy Price and husband Ronnie of Madison; his brother, Robert Smith and wife Melinda of Mayodan; seven grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Justin Smith and wife Hannah, Jacob Smith, Conner Carter, Cooper Carter, Catie Carter, and one on the way, Charley Carter; and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ray Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
