John Luther Martin, 70, of Stoneville, entered the sunset on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at his home. A 12:00 noon funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, December 27, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. John Luther Martin was born on March 8, 1951. He graduated from Madison-Mayodan High School in 1969. He worked for W.O. Wood and Sons for 26 years, where he retired in 2010. He loved to laugh and have a good time. He never met a stranger. He was truly the life of the party. He was very passionate about helping others, especially his family. No one could tell a story or a joke quite like “Johnny Luther”. He loved his westerns and his Ford trucks, if you visited him, you found yourself hooked on them too. He was a member of Revelation of Faith where the Pastor was Rev. Pervis Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Noah and Josephine Martin. He came from a family of 17 children. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Bernice Hairston, Roy Lee Martin (Joeann), and Beulah Griggs. His children, Deidre Richardson of Atlanta, Angie Scales of High Point, Anthony Hairston of Walnut Cove; and Lyai Webster (James) of Walnut Cove. He was as close as a father could be to Tina Hairston, Otis Hughes Jr., Tristian Hughes, Lionel Roberts (Latoya), and Timothy Hairston. He is also loved by a grand host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
