Lou Ella Mae Bullins Stephens, 81, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at her home. A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home. Lou Ella was born in Stokes County on April 14, 1940, to the late Hillary and Bessie Brim Bullins. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and worked in textiles most of her life. She loved taking trips to the beach, singing, going to eat, and gardening. One of her greatest passions was George Jones, becoming a member of his fan club and taking many trips to see him in concert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sally Bullins, Geneva Dillon, and Genease Evans; and her brothers, Jack Bullins, Ralph Bullins, and Steve Bullins. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Eleanor Stephens of Mayodan; her sisters, Magdalene Bullins of Madison and Hilda McBride of Sandy Ridge; and her grandchildren, Cynthia Baynes and Thomas Baynes.
