The garden began with a dilapidated section of fence that needed to be replaced. The idea for a mural was born and Ashley S. Hickok, of the Mayodan Arts Center was asked to be the creative force behind the Veterans Mural.
As Ashley began the mural, excitement for the project grew, and we decided to transform the entire side of the property as a Veterans Memorial Garden.
We wanted to create a peaceful place for families and veterans to come and mourn, pray, and remember.
